Improve Quality of Sleep Using Science

Improve Quality of Sleep Using Science

In order to ensure proper health and vitality, most of us understand the importance of proper nutrition and regular exercise. However, what all too many fail to consider is the need to get a restful night’s sleep. This ignorance is part of the reason that, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, one in three adults don’t get the sleep they need. This can lead a number of problems you likely never realized including:

  • Increased risk for becoming involved in a car accident due to lack of focus and the possibility of falling asleep at the wheel
  • Impairment of cognitive processes
  • Increased risk for the development of heart disease, heart attack, heart failure, and irregular heartbeat
  • Increased risk of stroke
  • Increased risk of diabetes

While you may think getting a good night’s rest is easier said than done, this feeling may stem from the fact that you are unaware of certain scientific advancements that have increased our ability to achieve such a level of nocturnal bliss, and there are three ways you can improve your quality of sleep using science.

Cooling Mattress Toppers

cooling-matress-padAs we begin to drift off to sleep, our core body temperature begins to drop, and this lowered temperature helps facilitate the natural human circadian rhythm. However, many mattresses are known to absorb the heat of our bodies and promote a warm environment, counteracting with the natural cooling process the body is trying to perform. You, in turn, find yourself unable to drift off as you are fighting the discomfort that results.

There is an option to consider, and that’s cooling mattress topper. These products provide a nice, cool place for you to retire for the night, and it helps naturally facilitate the goal your body is trying to achieve. As you browse the many options for the  best mattress topper for your individual needs, be sure to consider reviews as these can lead you to the product that will work best for you. I’ve used the Sleep Innovations Dual layer topper and it’s worked very well for me, plus it comes highly recommended.

Darken the Environment

dark-bedroomWe live in a society that’s heavily reliant on media, and this comes in many forms. Whether you find yourself stuck on your phone for hours at a time or tend to plop down in front of the television after a long day, it’s important to understand that lights and background noise are highly distracting when you’re trying to sleep. This is because the body is trying to slip into a state that’s not attuned to the outside environment, and it’s hard to establish this when there are obvious external distractions. Aside from turning off devices, you should also consider:

  • Buying darkened curtains or blinds to block outdoor light
  • Implementing the use of a white noise device
  • If you have a pet that regularly rouses you during sleep, consider putting them in their own area for the night

Train Your Internal Clock

Good nights restWhether or not we’re aware of it, each of us has an internal clock that dictates our lives. You can take the upper hand in this relationship when you effectively train yours to facilitate proper sleep for you. You can achieve this by going to bed and waking up at the same time on a consistent basis. The Drive to Sleep and Our Internal Clock provides much more insight into the various ways in which you can fine-tune your internal clock to work in your favor.

Rejuvenation You Deserve

We all deserve to live the highest quality of life possible, and the achievement of this feat is highly dependent on getting the right amount of restful sleep on a nightly basis. According to the National Sleep Foundation, adults need approximately eight hours of uninterrupted sleep on a nightly basis, and this can be difficult if you’re constantly tossing and turning. By considering these three scientific facts, you are better able to establish the right sleeping environment to get the rejuvenation you deserve.

The Rise of Technology in Rifle Scopes

The Rise of Technology in Rifle Scopes

Rifle scopes are engineered to precision so that they fulfill one purpose, which is to make the marksman’s target smaller. Humans have had 176 years to perfect the rifle scope and there has been incredible headway made. The recent rifle scope review of the Nikon ProStaff Rimfire 2 enlightens the audience to the marvel that is the rifle scope of the 21st century. Crystal is created specifically for optic use with multiple coats of aluminum or silver that are vaporized onto the prisms so as to make them not entirely reflective so that marksmen have a clearer view of their target. Scopes are “O” rings, which are sealed tubes filled with nitrogen to help prevent fogging and make them more water resistant for longer periods of time.

Rifle scopes are made to endure adventurous hunts and stay more accurate than ever before utilizing the best in telescopic technology from some of the most reputable companies today. Your heart rate can slow and you can release that breath you have been holding as you squeeze the trigger, knowing for certain your shot will hit its mark, due to the precision engraved in the engineering of your scope. Now, in the age of big data, Nikon has revolutionized an industry it was already standing strong in by putting more power in the consumer’s hands. Spot On, which is an application for your smartphone designed by Nikon, helps the consumer to compare ballistic analysis for their specific weapon to their scopes so that the aiming points of the reticle align exactly with the yardage they are shooting. This is the closest thing to having a spotter telling you how many “clicks up” you need to aim to hit your target with long range shots.

There have been great leaps in technological advances in the last 176 years. There are optics to help with any situation, low light, no light, infrared, and advanced combat scenarios. There are several uses for a fire arm and technology has to stand its ground against the elements. In those tough situations, it is paramount that Nikon do its job and uphold standards that keep their marksmen shooting straight. Rifle scopes have come a long way sense their beginnings and so has marksmanship. So whether you own a Nikon at the lowest range of cost or one at the highest, you will be pleased with your purchase. An $1100 Nikon Monarch with illuminated reticles, 12x zoom, and an infinite amount of parallax may seem like a hit to the wallet, but it has a ton to offer. You will be able to rest assured in the technology that has been implemented in each shot you take. Your view will be optimized and your eyes will rest comfortably.

2017 marks Nikon’s 100th birthday. As a company, Nikon has brought the world a clear view of itself for nearly a century, and now they are extending usability to allow the hunter to bag a trophy for the wall. When you expect technology to live up to function, design, and durability, Nikon has the product you need.

Fiber Optic

Fiber Optic

Fiber-optic communications find their basis on a physical principle of light within a glass apparatus is capable of carrying significantly more information over longer distances than for example electrical signals can carry in a coaxial of copper conduit or radio waves via a wireless medium. Today’s glass fiber with its purity , with an improved electronics system, permits fiber optics to transfer light signals that have been digitized hundreds of miles with no need for amplification. Having almost no losses in transmission, high bandwidth and very low interference, using optical fiber is close to perfect choice for a transmission medium.

What is an optical fiber?

_originalIt is a clear, see-through and flexible fiber made of glass, plastic or silica, with a thickness little above a strand of hair. It works as a waveguide to transfer light from one side of the fiber to other. Optical fibers that are mostly used in communications, allow transmission at long distances and high bandwidths much more than wire cables. Fibers are not affected by electromagnetic disturbances and data loss is much smaller.

imagesFibers have many other uses and applications for example: for illumination, projecting images, fiber lasers and sensors. Optical fibers are usually made up of a transparent core encompassed by a see-through covering material with low refraction index. Fibers that support many crosswise modes are called multi-mode fibers, and ones that support a single one are single-mode fibers.Multi-mode fibers with a wider diameter are used for short-distance communication and single-mode fibers are mostly used for longer connections.

FiberOptic

Joining optical fiber is more complicated than joining electrical cable. The ends of the fibers must be correctly spliced one with the other and their cores must match perfectly, then they are fused together using heat. There are also special connectors to temporarily connect fiber ends. Optical fibers are commonly used in telecommunication, and also with creating a computer network due to it’s flexibility and the ease of bundling as cables.

fibre2The light signals going through each channel of the fiber can go up to 111 Gbit/s, where 40 Gbit/s is common in use today. A transmission of 400 Gbit/s within a channel was established by scientists in June, 2013.Each fiber can contain a multitude of channels, where each has it’s own wavelength of light. A standard Ethernet cable, with a capacity from 100 Mbit/s to 1 Gbit/s speeds is mostly used in office networks because even one fiber of it has a higher capacity than a regular electrical cable, another advantage is also the immunity to electrical obstructions. They are resistant to lightning, explosive fumes so they can keep communications equipment safe in many dangerous areas and are much more difficult if not impossible to tap.
